Who are we

We are a family-owned business, founded in 1974 at the humble home of Mr. And Mrs. John. At its inception Bobby, helped women in Ja-Ela discover comfort and confidence in their under-garments. Eventually, our undergarments grew popular outside our hometown of Ja-Ela and made its way to the capital, Colombo. As the decades passed, we connected with our customers, allowing us to expand our offering beyond ladies’ undergarments, into men’s and teenage undergarments.

We are an organization dedicated to produce lingerie for women of superior quality at a reasonable price. At present the company holds a significant share of the market due to the exceptional quality of lingerie the company has been able to produce.

Our Story

The company was founded in 1974, at the humble home of Mr. and Mrs. John. At the start, Bobby’s production was powered by Mrs. John. Her skill with the sewing machine, attention to detail with patterns and fabrics allowed her to produce high quality lingerie. To support her ability with the sewing machine and high quality finished products, Mr. John took the initiative to sell the products to shops in Colombo. His ability to form genuine relationships with his customers and sound administration of the business, allowed Bobby to slowly grow as the years ticked along. Eventually the business managed to increase its consumer base in both Colombo and in their own neighbourhood in Kapuwatta. The business slowly expanded from one single machine to multiple machines as the years went by. In 2006 the company opened its main production complex in Kappuwatta, Ja-Ela. This was a milestone as the business now expanded to a three storied operation with 60 machines from a single room with 1 one machine.
At present Bobby has 150 employees and over 200 machines in operation. It has a newly opened factory in Kalpitiya. Based on market trends, two additional product brands were introduced. Mia was established to cater to young female adults and Nicho was created to cater to the mens underwear market. Currently Bobby, Mia and Nicho are popular brands in the local undergarment sector and is striving to maintain its quality whilst adapting to the ever-changing demands of the undergarment field.

What we do​

We produce lingerie for women and underwear for men. Our products are under three brands. Products with the Bobby label offer lingerie for women and the Mia label offer lingerie for . Nicho offers underwear products for men.
